Incorporating Candles into your Self Care Routine

self-care singapore

Self-care might be the buzzword in the wellness industry, but for a good reason! Self-care takes into account every aspect of your health. If you are not making self-care a priority, you should consider doing so. Spending a little time showing yourself you care goes a long way to improving your life.

Candles are one of the easiest ways to start practising self-care. You may ask how exactly buying a candle will change my life? Candles fall under one of the most powerful senses – the sense of smell. Think about it, you are walking on the street, and you smell a familiar cologne, and it reminds you of a friend or loved one. Scents have the power to evoke positive effects on your mood, reduce stress, improve sleep and even contribute to physical and cognitive performance. It should be reason enough for you to start stocking up on some of our natural soy wax candles.

Here are three ways of incorporating our candles into your Self-care routine.

1. Take a shower or bath.

The universally adored practice of slipping into warm water after a rough day is almost like magic—afterwards, your body and muscles feel more relaxed, and the anxious thoughts that were running through your head all day have suddenly gone away. We suggest burning our Great Wall candle and investing in some bath salts (Himalayan pink rock salts are our favourite) and loofahs to your bath or shower routine to nourish your daily experience!

2. De-Clutter your space

If your living space is overwhelming you, then maybe it’s time to throw out things that may no longer bring you joy.

We know cleaning does not sound all relaxing or could count as self-care. Think about it, if you had lesser items to keep clean, you would naturally have more time to do something you love instead. We suggest you get your hands on this book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing where Marie Kondo breaks it down quickly for you to transform your cleaning routine.

While you’re cleaning, light up our Songbird candle to create a positive memory of the experience. This melon and cucumber scent will make you feel refreshed!

3. Yoga & Meditation

You probably already know what yoga is, and you might have even taken a class or done some poses at home. Yoga provides the benefits of increased flexibility, muscle strength, and tone, but it also has significant mental health benefits. The next activity or practice that can help tremendously with your self-care journey is meditation. You can do this as part of a routine with yoga or on its own. Meditation takes practice, just like yoga, but what you gain is astonishing. Getting the opportunity for our minds to rest is essential in this world where we are constantly bombarded. We suggest burning our Dream Girl candle to create a warm, inviting ambience to help liven up your routine.

Starting a self-care routine can be easier than you think, and it can be a rewarding change. We hope you take these initial steps to turn into great lifestyle habits.
